“Activator” Alert: MacOS Malware Hides in Cracked Apps, Targeting Crypto Wallets

In a concerning revelation for the Apple macOS user community, cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has detected a previously undocumented malware invading the system through cracked software and illicit apps. This malicious program – dubbed as ‘Activator’- has been seen targeting cryptocurrency wallets, exposing a severe vulnerability in machines running macOS Ventura 13.6 and later. The malware is designed to stealthily harvest system information and crypto wallet data, jeopardizing both Intel and Apple silicon users. It manifests the grim reality that encrypted digital assets are not entirely impervious to breaches and hacks, especially when intermingled with cracked versions of programs.
