“Activator” Alert: MacOS Malware Hides in Cracked Apps, Targeting Crypto Wallets

Apple macOS users must exercise caution, as cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has identified a novel “stealer” malware hiding in cracked apps and software. The malware, dubbed “Activator”, targets users of macOS Ventura 13.6 and later, showcasing the ability to infect both Intel and M1 chips. Its clandestine operations involve system data harvesting and, more worryingly, the extraction of information from cryptocurrency wallets. This development further compounds recent security concerns involving illicit software and digital currencies.
