Feds Confirm Remote Killing of Volt Typhoon’s SOHO Botnet

The recent confirmation by the Federal Authorities about the successful remote elimination of the Volt Typhoon’s SOHO Botnet reveals a significant breach in cybersecurity. The breach, targeted at the end-of-life, patchless routers, majorly from technical giants, Cisco and Netgear, was launched by the China-backed Advanced Persistent Threat (APT). The APT was found to be utilizing this botnet, comprising mostly of these vulnerable routers, to infiltrate US critical infrastructure. This attack raises serious concerns about security vulnerabilities in routers from Cisco and Netgear, especially those nearing their end-of-life state.
