Hackers Exploit Job Boards in APAC, Steal Data of Millions of Job Seekers

Security breaches are rapidly on the rise in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, specifically targeting employment agencies and retail companies. A previously unknown cybercrime group,  ResumeLooters, has been exploiting the vulnerability of job board platforms and illegally obtaining sensitive data since early 2023. According to Singapore-based cybersecurity company Group-IB, the hacking group’s main modus operandi revolves around the theft of resumes from these job search platforms, affecting as many as 65 undisclosed companies. This incident underscores the escalating challenge of cybersecurity and data protection within the evolving online job market.
