Microsoft’s Top Execs’ Emails Breached in Sophisticated Russia-Linked APT Attack

In a sophisticated cyber attack, emails of top executives of tech-giant Microsoft were reportedly breached on Friday. The breach extended to individuals in the company’s cybersecurity and legal departments as well, leading to the theft of sensitive emails and attachments. Microsoft identified the perpetrators as a Russian advanced persistent threat (APT) group, known as Midnight Blizzard. The attack once again underscores the vulnerabilities even tech heavyweights face in the wake of increasing nation-state cyberattacks.
